Starting August 31st your child will receive nightly homework. Student Planners are expected to go home with your third grader every evening and brought back to school every morning. Third graders will receive grade level homework that will take approximately 30 minutes (as per DPS policy) of independent work a night.
Reading Log: Students will be required to read EVERY evening for at least 20 minutes. They will keep track of their nightly reading in their Student Planner. Monday -Thursday, students must write the title, and author of the text that they are reading at home in the "Reading" portion of their daily planner.
Math Homework: Students will have math homework each night Monday-Thursday. All math homework will be reviewed each day during math time. If your child has difficulty with their homework, please write me a note in the child's Student Planner. I will go over it with them during the day.
Special Projects:
At certain times during the school year I will assign a special project to students that will require their attention at home or outside of the school day. I understand how time seems to creep up on you when raising a family and how important family time is so I will do my best to adjust the nightly homework during this time to meet the needs of both DPS and your family.
